| Fortunately I have brought my blacksmith with me. He is well experienced in locks and their removal. The council will not lack for wine. Cheers! | |

| (please note, this is not intended to be a political post, although it's impossible to post anything aside from a fun / frivelous topic without there being some element of politics. I ask, as the duchess did above, that the only response I get is from her. I'm just at the point where I don't know what to say to people)
Rightly or wrongly, some Bridgewater citizens feel betrayed by the political process. Many of them feel that they were used by the Chardian leaders of the RP as a way to support LoF and not as a means to balance the skills and effectiveness of both groups. I note that we also have the lowest number of representatives on the council (next to Bristol). This election and the afteramth has caused a significant amount of dissatisfaction within the town, with a number of active citizens considering relocating to the next available colonies.
What do I tell people? What arguments can I offer them to keep them from moving? How can I reassure them that they are an important part of Somerset's political process? I'm trying to do my best song and dance routine to keep things light in the taverns and the fora, but I'm running out of novel distractions and ideas.
Please note, that if you don't feel this question is appropriate, if you feel that it would be better dealt with elsewhere ... then advise me accordingly and I'll offer the following question in it's place: During your time as a bartender in Gloucester, what's the funniest thing you've heard? |

Believe me I can well understand your concern in that regard. It seems any thing I say anymore is twisted into a charge of defamation. I am straight forward and open in my responses and if I had to worry about every little thing I say being scrutinized then there would be no fun or point to participating, civil behavior not withstanding. - Quote :

I think there are those who feel betrayed in every election anywhere, county or town. When I first saw the list for RP I saw a list of mostly patrons under the guise of Garraway, who had ties to LOF, and reconciliation. I felt betrayed. I perceived it as a ploy to take votes from LOF in chard and somerset and help the SNP list. I relayed my concerns to Garraway even before the debates began. He assured me that it was just a list of citizens who were tired of partisan bickering and wanted change in the county council. Well we have change in the council. Perhaps not what some had envisioned but if given the chance all will see we have good people devoted to somerset and it’s citizens. Poor Gallaway, now it is people from his list who feel betrayed by him. Poor fellow got it from both sides in a no- win situation, he did what he felt was right and adhered to the spirit of change and reconciliation in the somerset council. Bellos expressed the same concerns in the decisions he made. He has been on council lists before as a patron and it is doubtful he would be part of a plot to undermine and betray RP or SNP to help LOF. Bridgewater may only have one representative but she is a very important part of the council and holds the most important job in council. The Chard representatives have friends and ties to BW as well. BW is a part of Somerset and it is Somerset as a whole that the council is concerned with no matter what town they live in. Bristol has no representation now but the council is still concerned with the problems there and we are subsidizing the town with goods, funds, and marshals. - Quote :

Please tell them that Somerset is still the same wonderful county they have always lived in. Nothing has changed in that regard. There are a few changes in council but enough returning members that the flow will remain steady. BW is an important part of Somerset and has the interest and concern of all who are on the council. We are a collection of good and even some fun loving people and I truly believe that this council will be more cohesive then ever as we all grow to know each other better. Please tell them not to fall prey to rumors and dissenting innuendo but to ask questions about their concerns of the people involved, your council members. That is one of the reasons we started this section of the forum for participation from all citizens and the very reason I started this thread. There is a place for every citizen in the future of Somerset regardless of town, party, or opinion. - Quote :

| This may blow up in my face. But I would ask a boon of LoF members. Can we stop equating the SNP to the Patrons. We are a distinct party. We have a completely different platform, yes there are cross over members. But then there are prominent LoF members that at one time were Patrons as well.
I do not ask to disparage the Patrons Party they have a long and illustrious heritage in Somerset and England. But the SNP is not the Patrons.
Because this is a post about political parties it is inherently political. But I am not trying to start a mud fight here. I am seriously asking a favour.

| I have a question then for our Duchess :
Why every single day we see the same names in the University ?
We have so many Level 3 citizens but every single day i see two regular names , Alikath, budicca, alikath, buddica, alikath, buddica ( how many times i will write it, but its true, ffff... )
is there a reason our dear Duchess, Rector, lifetime proffesor, for this ?
There are not other faithfull citizens to do the job? Or we keep them only for some peasant County agent job ?
Nice, for Somerset and the people, but please, when you touch my pocket , ha ?...... Goodnight Somerset !

| Councilwoman Buddica is the Rector for the University currently but the way it works is this
Level 3 students must possess 100% of a skill in a subject ( except languages) to be ABLE to teach such a subject
Then the STUDENTS have to log in and click the appropriate choice in the Uni interface in game to OFFER to teach ( the Rector cannot place a teacher in a class without the Teacher actually initiating the offer to teach himself)
So the Rector is limited to acceptance of offers. She cannot make people teach to create variety, she can only encourage them to. She can of course communicate as has been done to determine needs and interests to better know what subjects are wanted and try to work out a standing class with certain teachers if possible. But the actual classes are not solely in the lap of the Rector as it is an interactive position which requires the other parties to step up as well.

| The trouble I see, is not the fault of the rector, i will said more a lack of experiance, but normally when a skill is hold by only one person in england, is the rector that contact him, not the reverse, if you wait for that, is the students of that way that will get frustrated like right now army way with advance strategy, kulles have it at 100%, kulles is europeen so all the time the class are all taken before he can even log in, the rector should contact him, and offer him a class. is really needed to keep the advance we got in all skills in england, we are the most advance in church, and army way let keep it that way please.
And i am tire to wait until late in morning to see two state way class when i want to see advance strategy ...

Nice, for Somerset and the people, but please, when you touch my pocket , ha ?...... Goodnight Somerset ! I have recorded the history of assigned teachers in the university since I first became involved in the rectory. This is the link to that thread. https://somerset.rpg-board.net/The-university-of-Somerset-c10/Teachers-lounge-f90/Teaching-History-t468.htmAs anyone can see there has been a diverse group of teachers assigned and the same two names you mention are not teaching over and over everyday. I generally only teach if requested because no one else has bothered to apply and that only is about once a week. The rector is limited to who applies to teach and that is the only control they have. I myself and Budicca have several times asked the level 3s to get involved and volunteer to teach a set scheduled class every week to no avail. A part of the time recorded Hypno and Ellsbeth were rector and the same names were assigned to teach at that time so you might want to direct your question to them as well, oh wait they already answered you in this thread. My suggestion to you is invest the time and money that we all have to become level 3 and then invest more time and money to study and improve to aquire a skill as we all have and then you can apply to teach and contribute to the solution instead of whining and making insinuations to continue the dissention of partisan politics that your council is working so hard to overcome and leave in the past. I have already warned you about inflammatory posts tho I did not do it publicly so consider this a public warning. https://somerset.rpg-board.net/The-council-of-Somerset-c11/The-public-council-room-f42/Reminder-of-the-rules-and-condition-t510.htm

| Well, I was perusing through all the posts out there an stumbled over one started by Jellysnail back in May. Somerset Citizen of the month. These days I'm hearing alot of "ME, ME, ME" in council debates-your attacking me, what about me, whatever. What about the citizens whom the council serves. I think this idea, following Hypno's suggestion of a criteria would be a great idea. And to protect yourself, and the Council, it would have to be a non-elected offical who is awarded. Jah, how I love no-brainers that people fail to see--"Here's your sign". | |
