this sounds perfect to me, however the only people who have actually taken part in the merchants guild are Suan (Mayor) Lethion, Red_skincore and myself. Am i to think that this is the merchant fleet of somerset. 1 mayor and three posible merchants?

I would ask that the council post a few notes around the place letting people know that the merchants guild is now open also let merchants know that we are here to help and employ them would be good.

I'll set up a subforum for the Trade Guild (and sign up) within a day or two. I do wish to speak with Justin, and would welcome input from others, as to where on this forum that subforum should go. My thought is that, as it is a county wide organization, deriving its legitimacy from the council, it should go just above (or below) the loan office.

Not *IN* the loan office, but given equal billing with the loan office and the activity committee, essentially making a new section (or subforum) at the county level.

Putting sub-offices in each town's section raises more issues than it would solve - 1) the Merchant Guild is a county wide body deriving its legitimacy from action of the council, 2) Chard already has a merchant guild office that is not related to the county wide Guild, 3) Splitting the Guilds functions across the 5 towns dilutes it; it's more difficult to coordinate actions in 5 town offices than in one county level office (where sub-subforums can be created for each town).

The basic forum is set up. Redskin_core is moderator of the Somerset Trade Guild group, with Suan and Lethion as members. The group has the right to moderate that forum, while Red can add new members to the group.

All forum members have read/write privileges in this forum, that being the best way I can think of to make sure that everyone who needs access can get it. Subforums with greater degrees of privacy can be created as the needs are defined.

The basics of the Somerset Trade Guild is set up now. To describe it, I would say... a room without furniture. Improvements will definitely be added, but along the way, as the need for them arises.

If you are able to be a merchant for your town or for the duchy, do not hesitate to enlist. If you would like to be a merchant but you do not have the time, you can consider enlisting as a reserve merchant, called upon only when the extreme need arises.

Surely there must be SOMETHING that every town needs. Mayors, if you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask for it at the Somerset Trade Guild. We have a bunch of merchants that will be most willing to assist you in getting what you need.
