The mails will be delivered at Dawn.

Two will meet and become lovers. Their love will be the only thing that might protect them.

The werewolves will gather in their secret den by night deceiving every villager during the day.

The villagers will need a leader…he shall be called Captain. If he should parish he shall appoint a new Captain with his last breath.

There is a psychic is among them and shall come to you for information.

One has been granted powers to save souls. You must go to him daily to plea for the safety of one.

The werewolves have agreed to first tell you of who they intend to devour.
You must then go to the witch to see if she has a potion for the victim. She is very greedy with the 2 potions she has. She may use the potion of death and then you will have two victims. If the Savior has given you the same name as those…he shall be saved.

You will then go to the center of town and make the dreaded announcements.

The villagers will be angry and fearful and want revenge. They will debate amongst themselves. They will secretly come to you and inform you of who they chose to lynch as a werewolf.

You will inform the village of who is to be lynched. They will be lynched immediately. If the town Jester is chosen, The captain has been granted powers to save his life.

There is a tricky one among them who may seek to join the werewolves if he hasn’t already.. If he has he may chose to leave them and join the struggle of the villagers to remain alive.

The Elder of the village is strong and wise. He may outsmart the werewolves the first time but beware of another try. The villagers may chose him to be lynched or the witch may chose to use her death potion on him.. then he will surely die and the villagers that have been granted special powers will lose those powers upon his death.

You must keep order in a town haunted by death until the very last werewolf is discovered and lynched or until the all villagers succumb to their demise.

And the first lot of rules for there first run at the werewolves game

Complete game rules:

Remember ONE thing: It’s all about BLUFFING!

AIM OF THE GAME:
- for the villagers: to eliminate the werewolves
- for the werewolves: to eliminate the villagers

WEREWOLVES
- Each night they capture and kill one villager
- During daytime they pretend to be mere villagers in order not to be unmasked

VILLAGERS
- The first night, one of them is killed by the werewolves. This player is expelled from the game and may not take part in the discussion (his ghost may haunt the village but without trying to influence the survivors)
- The following night, the villagers who survived (including the werewolves) must capture and lynch one of the villagers, hoping he/she is a werewolf.

MERE VILLAGER
- He has no particular skill
- Must participate in the forum discussion…

THE PSYCHIC
- Each night, she asks the MC the true personality of one player.
- She must help the villagers in the forum discussion without being unmasked by the werewolves.

CUPID
- The first night he indicates 2 players who will be madly in love with each other.
- If one of the 2 lovers dies, the survivor will commit suicide immediately.
- The lovers may be both mere villagers, or 2 werewolves, or 1 werewolf and 1 villager, or of the same..
- As long as they are alive they must protect each other no matter what.
- If one of them is a werewolf, then they play against all the others, werewolves AND villagers. And if they survive, they are the winners.
- Cupid may point at himself as one of the lovers.

THE WITCH
- He/She can make 2 very powerful potions:
- A healing potion to resurrect the player killed by the werewolves
- A poison he/she can use one night to eradicate one of the players.
- He/she can use either potion only once during the game.
- He/she can use both potions the same night. Then, the following morning, there might be 0, 1 or 2 dead characters.
- He/she can use the potion on him/herself. He/she can then heal him/herself.

THE CAPTAIN
- This role is given to a character on top of his first role. (e.g.: the captain may be a werewolf)
- He is elected by the players on the forum by show of hand.
- One may not refuse to be captain.
- The captain has only one voice, but in case of equality his vote will prevail. If he has voted for one within the 2 the person for whom he voted will be the winner. If he did not vote for one of the two he will have to choose between one of them.
- If he gets killed he uses his last breath to point out his successor.

THE HUNTER
- He is a mere villager (cannot be a werewolf)
- If he gets killed (by the villagers or the werewolves), and only at this moment, he can retaliate by killing immediately who ever he wants)

THE VILLAGE JESTER
Every village has got one…
- He cannot be a werewolf
- He can be killed normally by the werewolves
- If the villagers vote to kill him, he reveals them his role. The villagers having realized their mistake quickly calls the Captain to bring him back to life.. But he loses his right to vote. Of course, he may take part in the discussions, but may not influence the game.

THE ELDER
- He cannot be a werewolf
- The first time he is devoured by the werewolves he survives. He will die if they devour him a second time.
- If he gets killed by the villagers’ vote, the hunter or the witch’s potion he dies. But sorry to have killed such a precious member of their community the villagers lose all their special power until the end of the game.

THE SAVIOR
- He cannot be a werewolf
- Each night, he is called by the MC BEFORE the werewolves, to point out one player. This player will be protected against them for that night and only that one. - He may protect himself
- He may not protect a same player two nights in a row

THE MOLE
-He can be either a villager or werewolf.
-He can switch sides at any point of the game unless he has been chosen the same night to be killed.
-If he is killed, and the Elder has already been killed, the special powers of the villagers are restored.

One add-on just for fun:

THE TALKING WALL
At dusk, the villagers have this strange habit: They go and read anonymous messages written on the wall behind the town hall.
Each villager sends, by mail (along with their lynch vote), a short sentence about what ever he wants: doubts, warnings, denunciation, comments on the weather, compliments, declaration of love… whatever!
Once he has them all, the MC reads them to the players without revealing the identity of their authors.

THE GAME
Time will be according to mail replies...when all daily mails are in ...that next reset will start the new day. We will try to stick to 2 days (reset/skip one/ reset)=1 game day.
after reset being early morning
stage 1 through stage 5= one 24 hour day

1st stage
It’s night time, every body is asleep and learning. Everyone wakes and quickly checks their mail.

2nd stage
- (first round only) Cupid wakes up and points at two villagers to be the lovers (he may be one himself)
- (first round only) The MC informs (by mail) the lovers of their being the lovers. The lovers acknowledge each other they can disclose their identity to each other and must protect each other at all costs.
-The werewolves acknowledge each other and start making plans choosing a leader to represent them with mails to the MC.

-The villagers need a leader and will now choose their captain by public vote (post)

3rd stage
-The psychic asks the MC (by mail) the identity of the villager of her choosing. The MC will not ask the psychic.

-The MC asks (by mail)the Savior who will be safe from the werewolves that night.

4th stage
The werewolves having secretly (by mail)talked to one another and secretly(by mail from the leader) point out to the MC who they chose to kill during the night

5th stage
- The MC tells the witch (by mail) who is the werewolves’ victim.
- Is he/she going to use one of her potions? Healing potion and/or poison? On who?
- He/she may do nothing.

6th stage:
- It’s dawn. The village wakes up. Someone is dead (identity of the victim given by the MC). - The MC will also inform the villagers of the witches effects (if any)

- Then start the arguments on the forum. Gossips, accusations, reasoning…
- The dead person(s) may not talk because … they’re dead! (his ghost is allowed to haunt and will describe the details of his death along with revealing his identity, but may not influence the game)
-Who is who, who lies, who doesn’t, who’s been noisy over the night… The psychic may discreetly influence the game according to the piece of information he/she got over the night; but he/she must be very careful not to be discovered, other wise the werewolves might have him/her for dinner later on.

Final stage:
-Then the villagers vote to lynch who they think is a werewolf. Each villager, including each werewolf, sends the MC his vote by mail along with anything you want to say on the talking wall.
The following day, the MC gives the name of the villagers’ victim and the detailed results of the votes (who voted for who) in order to feed the next debates.
The victim then reveals his identity and describe the details of his death. He may haunt in future discussions but may not influence game.

… Then the village falls asleep and we go for another round…

So the werewolves vote first, then the villagers, then the werewolves again, and so on… until:
The villagers have succeeded in killing the 5 werewolves
or the werewolves have killed all the villagers
or only the 2 lovers are left.

Reminders:
-IT’S ALL ABOUT BLUFFING….
-Identities must remain a secret. (lovers only know each others and werewolves only know each other.)If anyone reveals his true self, either publicly or privately, before his own death, I will have no choice but to stop the game immediately!
- Each villager tries to unmask a werewolf and have the other villagers vote to have it lynched.
- The werewolves must pretend to be mere villagers
- The psychic must help the village without being discovered
- The lovers must stay alive at all cost. If one of them dies, the other one dies immediately out of despair.
-once you vote in mailed to MC you may NOT change your vote.
-The Mole at any time can switch roles without warning unless he has been chosen to be killed that same day.
-If the Elder dies the villagers lose all their powers. If the Mole dies after the Elder than their powers are restored.

It may look a bit complicated at first sight, but the MC will lead you and tell you what to do and when…

There is a version of the werewolf game for Wiltshire being played out in the Weald....
with rules posted. There are two threads actually: the game and the discussion of the game. Hope this doesn't confuse things, but here's what they are doing.

Do we want to run this game in the inn before Christmas?

Unlikely I will be back to run it anytime soon...Does someone want to do it? Be warned it takes time if the ball is anything to go by. Or the other option is someone start sign-ups and then I can run the game on my return.
