| As poli said this letter looks very "heavy" in saying what they cannot do. So I suggest we inform them of their rights, but adding their rights to this letter would make it long, and I did not want to acheive that. Instead I think we should inform them about their rights in a second mass mail. - Quote :
- Dear citizens of ,
It has come to the attention of the Somerset council that many of you are still unaware of the Legal Corpus of Somerset. Jellysnail has taken up the offer to put together for the Somerset citizens a brief overview of laws that concern you.
The following laws have been taken from the thread called Somerset laws. http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?t=23307 (The first post by Djcoolmec, is invalid, doesn’t exist.)
Article 9 – Official Language
Article 1.9.1. : The official language of the Kingdom of England is English. All other languages are prohibited in public places, unless an adequate translation is provided simultaneously.
Article. 1.9.3.: In the application of this Law, "public places" are defined as:
- Town Halls (both in-game and forum); - the County Castle (in-game); - the County Law Court (in-game); - the Somerset Inn (forum).
Article 8 –Town.
Article. 1.8.10. : The mayor has the right to collect taxes on fields and shops. They can only levy taxes every 15 days. The delay of the payment is 7 days. If someone doesn’t pay his or her tax, it will be prosecutable as a crime.
The next laws are a guideline for citizens of Somerset to follow, violating any of these laws will result in a consequence. The consequence varies to each crime and can found in Article. 2.1.2. and Article. 2.1.3. in the Legal Corpus of Somerset Book II – Penal code. (The following guidelines are very brief, if you wish to know more information about any of the following guidelines please take a look at this url – http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?t=23307 After you have the url open scroll down to Book II – Penal code.)
- Do not in any form send abusive written or verbal communication that attacks the personal or professional honour of any citizen of the Duchy.
- Do not rob other citizens
- Slavery is defined as any attempt to hire someone with an indecent wage. Minimum wage of the duchy is 15 pounds
- Do not buy a good then resell on the same market for a higher price (I consider serious)
- Do not create an artificial shortage and to sell goods at a price that exceeds the tolerable social price. (artificial shortage = buying up a lot of goods on the market)
- Do not create and abuse a monopoly
- Do not dump goods on a market (This applies to people who are selling goods in a different town then their home town, if you wish to do this please ask the mayor of that town if it is alright to sell a large amount of goods on his market).
- Do not create trouble to the public order and the peace of the Duchy.
- Do not attack the Town Hall or County Castle (very serious)
- Do not be a traitor to your county, Somerset. Treason can be defined as the goal of which is to weaken the Duchy of Somerset and its institutions as a result of loss of land, social stability, sovereignty, political or economical autonomy.
- Do not lie and give false evidence to the county courts.
- Do not offend the court. (Harass members of court, threaten court etc).
- Do not aid a criminal by hiding or concealing information about his/her crime.
If you do not understand any of the above laws please send your question to the county Judge, Jellysnail.
Sincerely, Your mayor. | |

| Good work Jelly! It would be my pleasure to explain the law to the citizens as well. So if you could add "or the Public Prosecutor,Poliphilus", I would be happy |
