- Your honor,
I have read all the discussion about me on the forum and I did not undestand for what am I accused. For 5 balls of wool sold three mounts ago? Frankly, I forgot what is with that wool. About the corn, here is what happened: I ussualy buy the cheapest goods from a market town and I sell its in another town. In this period I am doing this between Bridgewater and Bath. So, ussualy, I buy corn and bread from Bridgewater and I sell its in Bath, from there buying wood and selling it in Bridgewater. Normally, I am a farmer too. I have two corn fields at home, in Barnstale. Last time before 2 days ago when I went home was something about two mounths. So, my production of corn was something about 300 corn bags. A week ago I bought almost 100 wood from Bath, plannig to sell it in Bridgewater. But in Bridgewater was enough wood on the market, so I decide to return to my home, to get that corn. When I came back in Bridgewater, I had no intention to sell corn here. That corn I was thinking to sell in Bath. But in Bridgewater I saw no wood on the market. And I had with me a lot of wood. So I decide to stay am to sell that wood. Corn price was 3.40, a good price I believe, and I had over 300 corn bags. So why don't I put some corn on sale? I asked myself. And I started to sell it.
In conclusion, where is my crime? I do not sold the same corn in Bridgewater. I read again the accusation and I saw that it reffer a lot to wool. I do not make bussines with wool. It is solding slowly and it is not profitably. About that wool that witnesses told you about, has no importance. There was a small quantity that doens't allow you to accuse me creating and abusing a monopoly or dumping goods on a market.
Thank you. Prosecutor indictment - Quote :
- Your Honour,
I will read the Article which governs this case In Article 2.3.3. of the Legal Corpus of Somerset. which says
Article 2.3.3. : Economy manipulation is defined as: - hoarding goods; - creating and abusing a monopoly; - dumping goods on a market; This is a moderate crime and the sentence is set in Article 2.1.3.
In Allex6x6 defence your Honour, he says he did not buy the corn from Bridgewater, but farmed it himself. But that is not what he is accused of, in fact Allex6x6 is accused of dumping his goods in Bridgewater. 120 bags of corn is not a small amount to sell in Bridgewater. Bridgewater was already overstocked with corn bags, but then Allex6x6 goes on saying he wants to sell the other 180 bags of corn in Bath! Cleophas (the last mayor of Bridgwater only since Sunday) has said that already the Town Hall has 300 corn bags on the county fair at the time and 100 corn bags on the players market already. Clearly the town is very overstocked and does not need more corn bags from a foreign merchant. Allex6x6 has not stated that he at all contacted the mayor of Bridgewater to ask for permission to sell there, or even tell the mayor what he was doing. This is why I believe he is dumping goods on Bridgewater’s markets.
Your Honour, He says he cannot remember the balls of wool, but the evidence does. Allex6x6 is accused of hoarding of wool from Bath’s players market and Speculation for buying and reselling the wool. Allex6x6 did not tell the mayor of Bath at the time what his business was, or warning to what he was going to do.
Article for speculation can be found in Article 2.3.2. of the Legal Corpus of Somerset. Which states
Art. 2.3.2. : Speculation is defined as any action a citizen takes that consists of buying one or more goods and reselling it again at a higher price on the same market. This is a light crime and the sentence is set in Article 2.1.3.

Reselling of the wool can found here – http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?t=16597&start=30
Its clear Allex6x6 bought the wool from Bath at 11,25 £ and sold at a very decent profit of 13,50 £.
Allex6x6 is accused of creating and abusing a monopoly by buying up all the wool in Bath’s market (wool being a scarce commodity)
This can be found in the above evidence given.
I would like to remind the court of Article 2.1.4 which states
Article. 2.1.4. : A repeat offense will face a higher degree of sentencing.
I recommend in Article 2.1.2. iv. Jail time; for a heavy sentence, jail time is greater than or equal to 3 days. v. Exile
Thank you your Honour Last defence pleading - Quote :
- Ok, now I have understood your acusations. But what am I supposed to do with my corn? Sell it in Barnstaple for 3.10 (and there are, believe me, bigger quantity of corn than in Bridgewater or Bath)? And respecting the minimum salary, too, or even be attentioned to hire at a salary over 16 when asking points? This is not a healty economy.
In conclusion, my crime is not asking the mayor for permission to sell my corn in any town. If the law says that I should do this, than I am guilty. But I do not think the law says exactly this thing. But the problem isn't here. The problem is that the production of corn, and of the other goods, is much bigger than the demand.
Anyway, let's say I will ask the mayor for permission to sell goods in his town. And probably he will say no. What should I do? On a free market, it is not fair to interdict me to sell goods where ever I want. The prosecutor called Cleophas - Quote :
- What can I said your honour,
The proof is there. I buy corn even if my pigs don’t needed right now, because 1 I was wonder about the apparition of over 140 corn bags at the same time on the market. And for helping corn producer thinking maybe one of them just collect him in is propriety. But that corn has from someone of Barnstable, he flood the market with it, went corn producer of Bridgewater and Town hall still try to help the overstock of corn.
I think this man deserve a big punishment to do savage trading with out regard of Somerset laws …
Thank you The prosecutor called Rosalynn - Quote :
- I was mayor of Bath during a time when Alex6x6 as a trader came to Bath. He did not contact me to let me know he would be placing goods on our market. I was made aware of a problem regarding him when high-priced wool was put on Bath's market.
Bath has had a long-standing arrangement with our sheep farmers that the Town Hall would buy wool from them at £12,00 and resell it to our weavers at £11,50. Also, they have agreed not to sell hides through our auto-buy, but that the Town Hall would buy them at £15,00 when possible. Well, when Alex6x6 came to town, there was an influx of hides put through the auto-buy for 3 days running before I was able to grant-lock the TH treasury. Back to the wool. Being as wool is a scarce commodity at times, it seldom if ever shows up regularly on the market. Xiax, on 11/17/06, had 8 balls of wool for 11,25 that were purchased by Alex6x6 https://2img.net/h/i38.photobucket.com/albums/e126/Xiax/Evi-1.jpg. On the 18th, our market showed 4 balls of wool (https://2img.net/h/i65.photobucket.com/albums/h207/rosalynn_rk/Alex-wool-market.jpg) 2 for £13,50 and 2 for £12,50. I purchased one of each to see who was selling them. Ellsbeth had said that she had purchased one also before I did to see also but was unable to provide a screenshot of the purchase but she verified that the seller was also Alex6x6. https://2img.net/h/i65.photobucket.com/albums/h207/rosalynn_rk/Alex-wool-sale.jpg shows the results of the two purchases I made.
Before the problem with his reselling of the wool came his reselling of the 7 fish he bought from the Town Hall priced at £20,80 (https://2img.net/h/i65.photobucket.com/albums/h207/rosalynn_rk/Alex-fish-buy.jpg) on 11/16/06 when he bought it and putting it back up on Bath's market for £21,50 (https://2img.net/h/i65.photobucket.com/albums/h207/rosalynn_rk/Alex-fish-sale.jpg) and his knowing that Bath is a wood town, put at least 11 bushels of wood on Bath's market (https://2img.net/h/i65.photobucket.com/albums/h207/rosalynn_rk/Alex-wood-market.jpg) at £4,25 and £4,40. (https://2img.net/h/i65.photobucket.com/albums/h207/rosalynn_rk/Alex-wood-sale.jpg) shows the 11 bushels I bought to check who was selling them at such a high price.
Also, I had put up 10 bags of wheat for our millers. Alex claimed inmail that he didn't know the wheat was the Town Halls, however, if he had bothered to contact me to begin with I could have told him such or he could have looked in our forum in the Player's Market thread and seen http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?p=370580&highlight=#370580http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?p=370580&highlight=#370580 which is what our market looked like on the 16th with the Town Hall's goods highlighted in blue and known not to buy those.
All of the above screenshots may be found in http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?t=16597&start=30 in the Bath Forum Constable's thread as if Alex6x6 had not left town when he did, I was definitely planning to pursue filing charges against him, hence the collection of data from that time. This person seems not to learn even after being warned about manipulating our market and he is definitely not welcome in Bath any longer. It is painfully clear by the evidence provided herein, Alex6x6 knew what he was doing when he did it. Statement of accusation The defendant has been proved guilty of fraud. - Quote :
- On this day, the 30th of January, 1455, I find Allex6x6 guilty of violating Article 2.3.3. and Article 2.3.2. of the Legal Corpus of Somerset for the following reasons –
“Allex6x6 is accused of dumping corn bags on Bridgewater’s players market”
I have looked at this alleged crime very closely, and there is enough evidence given for a guilty verdict on this charge. I have seen that the town of Bridgewater on the 17th of January was heavily overstocked with corn bags, and yet you posted at least 120 more bags of corn on the market. I see this as dumping of goods in a town other than the town you originate from.
I sentence you to a 100 pounds fine for the dumping of corn bags in Bridgewater, the disruption to Bridgewater’s market, and the loss of sales to local Bridgewater corn farmers.
“Allex6x6 is accused of speculation for buying and reselling goods on Bath’s players market” This charge falls under the old Legal Corpus of Somerset, specifically “buying one or more goods and reselling it against a higher price on the same market” under Section 001 Economic Manipulation of 006 Sixth Book – Fraud, which is now defined as Article 2.3.2. – Speculation, of the new Legal Corpus of Somerset.
I have to commend Rosalynn’s efforts in the gathering of the evidence. It is clear in her evidence that you, Allex6x6, bought from Xiax wool for 11,25 pounds, and resold some of the wool on the same market at 12,50 pounds and 13,50 pounds.
For this, I sentence you to another 100 pounds fine, for the cost of the 8 balls of wool and the havoc and financial loss you caused to the weavers in Bath.
Finally the 7 fish you bought for 20,80 pounds. The evidence clearly shows you, Allex6x6, reselling the fish for a higher price of 21,50 pounds.
I sentence you to a further 150 pounds for speculation in the fish trade in Bath’s market.
Thus the court hereby sentences you to a total fine of 350 pounds for the above reasons.
If you wish to appeal this case, please approach the Court of Appeals at the following address : http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewforum.php?f=98 The defendant has been sentenced to 350 pounds fine. | |
