| Subject: Majik was charged with slavery - Discharged Wed Jun 27, 2007 11:58 pm | |
| Bill of indictment - Quote :
- Your Honor, on May 24th at 9:23, Majik hired Gerbergerber for 12p. Lord Hypno, our Duke did witness this. As such, since there was no pre-posted deal, this is slavery
First defence pleading - Quote :
- yes it is true i did hire Gerbergerber to pick my vegetables from my farm as i was working the mines.
but i am unfamiliar with what a pre-posted deal is??? now knowing that there is a possibility of me getting in trouble for hiring someone and paying them for the work.. i shall not hire again... this man was hired and payed automaticly for the work in which he performed for me...
majik Prosecutor indictment - Quote :
- Your Honor, since the defendant hired for less than the minimum wage of 15p, he was committing slavery. The laws on this are simple, unless a pre-posted deal on the forums is made, and someone is hired for less than 15p, the crime of slavery has been committed.
Majik did not post a pre-approved deal on the forums, and hired a worker for 12p. As such, he is guilty of slavery. Last defence pleading - Quote :
- your honor i am guilty, i did not take the time to see what the going wage for workers was ... i did not mean to treat these workers as slaves... i am willing and ready to take my punishment and make what ever restitution i can.. i assure you that this will never happen again..
majik The prosecutor called Hypno - Quote :
- Well what to said more your honour, I see this person hire someone bellow the minimum wage, and for the record just do it again today.
We all know that minimum wage is 15 pounds, how can someone hire for a ridiculous price of 12 pounds. Oh well The prosecutor called Krelian - Quote :
- Your honor (I made myself a witness so I could make this statement ) in light of Majik's acknowledgement of his crime, and the fact that it is clear he did not know, I ask for a small fine to be incurred, but not much more. Say 5p, to cover the cost he didn't pay to the worker. I would think this is fair.
-PP, Krelian Statement of accusation - Quote :
- Makik the court finds your statement to be truthful and your confession to this crime the remorse you have for the commission of it very compelling. Slavery in Somerset is a light crime and the fine for such is to the Judge's discretion ergo in light of your honesty and remorse I hereby sentence you to the fine asked for by the people of 5 pounds in this matter. The Court wishes you well and trusts we shall not meet this way again.
