Discussion: Amounts to allocate for the loan program

We will have a clerk to administer the loan program soon, I'm sure. But unless we vote to allocate some funds, that person won't have anything to do. So, please discuss the amounts we should allocate for each of the categories:

Level up loans
Second Field loans
Rancher loans

I see no reason not to be optimistic, and, bearing in mind that there's over 100K pounds cash in the treasury, suggest initial funding levels of 20.000 pounds for Level Up Loans, and 10.000 for the other two categories. These numbers are, to me, just a place to start discussing what amount would be best.

Perhaps a more conservative number of say 10000/5000/5000 , or even less, might be better until we get an idea of the applications submitted and the level of defaults.(Retreats, deaths, failed fields....)

I am not opposed to optimism by any means but I find myself agreeing with Councilor Alikath here that perhaps to begin with a more conservative approach would be in order due to the very number of unknowns we are facing and then later adjusting the allocation once we have measured the interest in the program and the level of defaults and factor that into the equation.

I have no problem with the lower initial allocation; we can, after all, revisit the question at such time as we recognize that intervention is called for.

I'll put up a vote on it tomorrow. That will enable the loans to begin to flow as early as Wednesday, assuming we find a clerk in that time.
