All right, here we go again, another 30 days starts up.

So far we have:

Mayor: Good Ole Mikey
Deputy Mayor: Symbiote (acess has been granted)
Head Merchant: Rebo
Police Chief: Barerose
Town Mentor: Erowyn
Minister of Internal Affairs: Sela
Minister of Role Play: LadyMarshmellow
Spokesperson: (unfilled, so Rebo for now)

Interns:
-Atri
-Thorpe
-Crepitus

Lets see if EVERYONE can post a hello and confirm in here, no sleeping allowed, I'm thinking of implementing a little post requirement in council here if nobody is going to speak up at all...

Rebo sends a letter along with a pigeon:

Rebo here! Gladly filling Head Mentor and interim Spokesperson positions. Honored.

I also prefer Minister of Morale (MoM) over Roleplay Person.

I also agree that there should be a post requirement. As councilors, we all have a responisbility and duty to fill, part of that job is to report back to the council. Let us all keep each other updated, let us all give each other feedback - all for the good of Chard.

Let us bring happiness and prosperity to our glorious town and all its People.

For Chard!

(actually I just made that name to bug marshy, heh heh Razz)
minister of morale is a little misleading, unless you want me to add more duties to the job...

for now minister of role play might be more appropriate since all we're looking for is a few rp's in the chard forum

It is important to note that this is the first Council that both Bellos and Vicombra are not a part of. The two of them were two of the three founding Councilors. Only Mike remains. They have laid a strong foudation on which we have and continue to build. I, for one, am very grateful for all their service to the Council and all Chardians.

Respectfully.
Rebo

(ooc. While it is true that Minister of Role Play is more straightforward, it does not make sence ig. A Minister of Role Play would never be a real title on a Town Council. So while I like the true to its name idea of Minister of Role Play, it seems a bit...untrue. This boils down to a debate between 1) obvious tranceparency, and 2) reality. I see pros in both, but tend to lean more towards Minister of Morale (not necessarily set on that name) because this is a Role Playing game- and part of role play is, well, not calling atention to the fact that it is role play. How convoluted can I get?! Embarassed . What does everyone else think? )

Atri sounds off to role call: Here, Sir!

I assume the intern is a non-voting position, but I agree with Rebo on this.

I think as much of the terminology and naming conventions as possible should conform to IG scenarios and where possible to 15th century England.

I wondered for instance why the Police Chief isnt called "Constable" [some other towns do use this title]

Also, our Church for ALMS is called St. Cross, which was imported from worchester I think. I did some research on the real Chard; and their most notable old church is actually called "St. Mary's Cathedral." What do you think about changing the name of our alms thread to reflect a uniquely Chardian landscape?

If the idea is appealing, I can write up a rough draft of an opening post, with the purpose [trust points] and a picture of the *actual* St Mary's, as well a brief blurb about the structure. Then I can ask Father Teagan to actually create the new thread [He's the natural choice, I would think] And the final step would be to get our censor to unsticky the existing thread and sticky the new one.

Just me thinking out loud here. I realize this isnt something high on the priority list, but I'm curious what the other councilers think about it.

Any way, I'm... HERE, SIR!

just a quick response: police chief isn't constable because theres a position on county council desiganted constable and I don't want to add confusion by having 2 people with the same title Very Happy

Also, in the main Chard forum I have absolutely no mod powers whatsoever, I'm not even sure if the mod's would change something like that, its possible, but it also might be run by the priests and dioces or whatever they're called. (They are kinda in control of these sorts of things)

Voting turned out to be a loose end, I don't really do votes in here, they're WAY to slow for what we need in town hall, I just do what needs to get done, and check in here as much as I can so people know whats going on and ask for everyone's advice. So all councillors are basically equal the way it turns out (except mayor) you all advise me and I do what I can to keep everyone happy.

I do enjoy the council very much its been fun being here, and I sent Bellos a mail about it, he said its fine, he's been real busy lately in real life and I let him know theres always a spot if he wants to do some work for us Very Happy (Vic too for that matter)

Now for names...

Minister of Morale I don't really like since its so... copyish-clicheish sounding to me, and marshy won't really be working to keep town morale up persay, moreso just keeping the forums alive and healthy with role play so we don't end up with only the dratted political debate junk. I like Minister of Role Play simply because its descriptive of her job and not misleading, I understand its not realistic in 15th century England, but of course, we'd have no females here at all either if we were being realistic (and would also be paying enormous taxes to our lords and nobles) If someone can come up with a different name that describes the job accurately I'd be willing to switch, but so far this and other council positions I've been trying to keep pretty self-descriptive.

By keeping the forums alive, I belive this council will be keeping the morale high in Chard. The two main things that attract people to move to a town are an active forum and lively tavern (and good market prices I suppose). I am always happier in a town with active community. I am proud of Chard because of ours. I think we have a lot of spirit, and someone who was determined to make us more active would be trying to increase our morale. I still like Minister of Morale more than Minister of Role Play. But here are a few more suggesstions.

Minister of Community.

Minister of Spirit.

Minister of Events.

Event Coordinator.

Minister/Chair/Head of the Committee/Spearhead for an Active Chard.

Head Cheerleader (I actually don't like this one)

Yes sir, I know you aren't able to make the changes. I didn't mean to suggest that you actually handle it yourself. I know you have your hands full. I was tossing the idea out for the opinion of you and the council. IF you like the idea and would like to see the change made, *I* would handle it for you, assuming I have your approval and backing. I realize that the Church or the Forum admins might reject the request, and if so... no big deal. But I would be willing to write up the proposal, make the case, and get it before those who make such decisions and changes.

I am very grateful for hard work and dedication you put in for this town, and I would be the last person who would want to add to your workload. You have a council of folks who are willing to *do*, not just "say." Very Happy If you like this idea, give me your blessing and I will do the legwork. That's what interns [and general helper-outers] do.

If you don't like it, that's ok too. I am not thin-skinned, and wont be hurt if others disagree. I toss a LOT of ideas around, with the full knowledge that MOST of them won't turn out to be good ones. Until now, I've only been able to toss these ideas around in my head or in the tavern. Thanks to you, I can now toss them out for peer review from smart people whose opinons I respect. Part of the process for me, is to "think out loud" and adjust my thinking as others point out the flaws or shortcomings of my ideas. The key is, that I always keep in mind that they are only ideas, not fully formed, cast in stone, principles. I fully expect my thinking to change according to the feed back I get.

There was meant to be a "wink" after that. I know Mike and the rest of you asked me here because I have a big mouth, lol. I will try not to let you down!

Seriously, I am very flattered and honored at the trust each and everyone of you have given me. I'm truly grateful for the oportunity to participate.

And ero hun, I fully expect most of my ideas NOT to be good ones. My goal is for about one in ten ideas to turn out to be good ones. Wink

And mike sir, I am serious about not adding to your workload [the extra reading involved with a noisy intern is bad enough, lol] I hope you don't view my suggestions as things that I think "the mayor needs to do" but rather as things that *I* [or others] can do for the mayor. You ought not have to do much more than give the project a green light, check on the progress and provide your guidance, then give the finished product your approval for implementation. Or at least that's how I envision it. The council ought to make your job easier, not harder. We work *for* you, and through you for the people of Chard.
