| Lawsuit between Fangel22 and Somerset Bill of indictment - Quote :
- It is alleged that the defendant has commited the crime of Manipulation of the economy as defined in article 2.3.3 of the Somerset Law,specifically by dumping goods. Said article dictates as follows:
Article 2.3.3. : Economy manipulation is defined as: - hoarding goods; - creating and abusing a monopoly; - dumping goods on a market; This is a moderate crime and the sentence is set in Article 2.1.3.
After a prima facie(=at first sight) investigation of the legal issue it is my conviction that these allegations are not completely unfounded, at least not to the extent that would allow me to disregard the case. I therefore present them before you Your Honour and I call Lord Sajanzv as witness.

- Dear Honorable Judge,
With reference to the above lawsuit, I am pleading guilty and wish to seek for linenacy as this is my first time to Somerset and I am not clear about the Anti-Dumping Regulations in Somerset.
I have tried to mend my wrong doing in buying back all the wood at a slightly higher pricing and are prepare to offer 1 TP to any lvl 1 Player which are in need.
Your kind consideration in discharging this case are highly anticipated.
Yours Sincerely Prosecutor indictment - Quote :
- Your Honour,
This is one of the few cases in which I, as Public Prosecutor, have to propose that the defendant is fully discharged,as I am convinced of his innocence.
The defendant has indeed sold 21 wood bushels for 4p in the market of Bath. Does this constitute economic manipulation and specifically dumping? No, Your Honour.Because the very meaning of the word "manipulation" implies intent. That is, this crime cannot be commited out of negligence. And the fact that the defendant immediately bought the whole quantity of wood back only proves in my eyes that his action was unintentional. Criminal intent would be: 1)knowledge of the fact that he was selling at the support price of the TH 2)Willingness to take advantage of the TH's policy. In this case none of the above was proved.
The exact meaning of dumping is an issue that has to be defined by our jurisprudence. Nevertheless it would be absurd ,Your Honour,if we demanded from travelling merchants to know what it is not clear enough even to jurists. That is why our legislation states:
Art. 1.5.2. : All citizens of the Duchy have the obligation to know the laws and to conform to them.
That is,Your Honour, foreigners can be forgiven for not knowing of the Somerset Law,under certain conditions (complexity of the provision, laws not existing in other counties etc).
In conclusion,I propose that the defendant is discharged on the ground of 1)absence of criminal intent, 2)pardon for justified unawareness of the Law. Last defence pleading - Quote :
- Dear Honorable Judge,
Awaiting for your kind judgement and hoping for a Discharge.
Your sincerely Fangel The prosecutor called Sajanzv - Quote :
- Your Honour,
Yesterday, Fangel22 had arrived in Bath and then proceeded to put up 21 wood bushels at 4.00p each on the local market. In my capacity as a grant holder for the town of Bath, I regularly help the town hall purchase surplus goods from the market for exports and local use using the Town hall Grant that is granted to me. Since 4.00p is the support price for wood at which the town hall of Bath buys the wood from the citizens of Bath, the 21 bushels of wood were bought up as well.
The Defendant posted wood in a wood town at the support price that the Town Hall states that it will buy wood at from the citizens of the town as per the town hall mayoral announcement. The money spend on buying wood not even from Bath could have been better spend to benefit the citizens of Bath. Instead it was used up to buy goods that were dumped on the market of Bath. This would be a clear case of dumping….
However, I would like to inform the Court that the Defendant was kind enough to mail me with a request to settle this issue outside the Court. I would like to present the Court with a copy of Fangel22’s mail to me :
After receiving his mail, I corresponded with Lady Mayor Rosalynn of Bath, and then replied to Fangel22. I would like to present the Court with a copy of my letter to the Defendant :
As per the agreement, I then proceeded to put the 21 wood bushels from the Town Hall grant up for sale at 4.15p, which were then bought up by the Defendant. I would like to present the Court with a copy of the bill of sale :
Thus based on the fact that the Defendant has already made amends for this situation by buying back the bushels of wood that were dumped on the market of Bath, I hereby humbly request the Court to discharge this case.
Thank you. Statement of accusation The defendant has been discharged. - Quote :
- I have seen the evidence, and while its true that you were guilty of dumping, Fangel22, since you have already made amends to the town of Bath, I hereby discharge this case
You are instructed to give 2 Trust points to 2 newcomers in Bath and inform the Court of their names
