Welcome to all councilors new and returning.

I believe we have an excellent collection of people assembled in this council and we can accomplish alot and have fun doing it.

Our first order of business is to select the Lord Protector for this mandate.

Please make your nominations and then be seconded by another councilor.

We can make it a roll call vote or make a poll after we have the nominee(s) if required or we can all right here voice our vote for the same person.

I would like to start by nominating Lord Hypno. I would like everyone to please consider him your choice for Lord Protector for the simple reason that he can step into the position at a moments notice without skipping a beat. He is the most suitable candidate and of course has all the experience needed.

Thank You fellow councilors.

What excatly is the job of a protector ?

Can someone please explain its function so I can better myself to whether or not I have any objections to this nomination.
(not that I presently have any objections at all. I just want to be enlightened)

It was instituted in the last council session to be the acting Head of council in the event the Duke/Duchess was incapacitated by RL events that prevent Him/Her from exercising their duties as charged.

It ascertains the council does not have to scramble or spend days arguing over a 2nd in command position in such event and that the government is stable and able to move on with no lapse.

similar to the Vice Presidency of the US.

Just for clarification: does the Lord Protector only step in if the Duchess is temporarily incapacitated due to real life circumstances? So IG reasons would not cause the Lord Protector to take over? And when the Duchess' RL situation is settled, she steps back in? Does this sound accurate?

Thank you!

Actually I am not sure about that Rebo, it is my understanding that is the case.
Perhaps Ellsbeth could confirm this.

To answer your query Rebo, Ingame reasons were never brought forward for consideration as the only ingame reason that would incapacitate a Duke/Duchess would be an actual Ingame ban which LJS does not hand out lightly.

A forum ban would not affect the ingame functions of the Duke/Duchess role so that would have no bearing.

So to my knowledge the only reasons considered were those of a RL nature such an personal injury or acts of Nature.

to extend Lady Ellsbeth's answer just a bit, it was created in response to Lord Hypno's injury last council term, when he was, IRL, struck by a car.

In the spirit of carrying on with necessary business, I believe we need a new Lord Protector. Is that how everyone else understand the law? If so, any recommendations?

While Rebo has been doing his job as prosecutor he has not been active to speak of in this council furthermore SNP carried the majority vote in this election and I believe the people would prefer this position be held by a member of that party.

Chardonnay has worked diligently for this council and this county and I believe the people would be quite content with her in this position.

That has absolutely no bearing on the issue. It is merely your opinion.

I nominate Vana.

it was the numerical majority in that it was higher than the LOF percentage.

The people are noticing how this has all played out and for that I have hope for Somerset where I was beginning to think all was lost.

I move this issue be brought to an official vote
