| Bimber is currently not doing anything that smacks of politics, he said. I think we were rather all counting on him. But, that's not happening. Who has a new candidate? | |

| Alas, Algernon feels that he can't be the moderator, citing personal conflicts of interest. In discussion with him, though, several names were mentioned from Cornwall who might be suitable. Those are (alphabetically) Chris_Braveheart, Methos and Shawn_math. | |

| Any of those 3 are fair enough choices, although Shawn is not very in love with politics as such but he would definately add some humor. | |

| I shan't ask any of those folks until I hear some more opinions, for I don't wish this to seem in any way a partisan action. We're down to the wire here, for the debates are to start tomorrow. That's the only reason I'm trying to move so fast. | |

| Just for discussion purposes....Marshy for Mod? I will not be running position on the council, and as of about 3(ish) weeks ago I have not been apart of any political group (no matter what the tag next to my name in the duchy says). I'm sure I can be objective and unbiased and whatnot, but I'd like to see how others view me (especially my fellow council members). The election's should have started today, but as neither list is confirmed (and we need both to star the debate...right), we're just sitting around twiddling our thumbs In Somerset Inn I've asked the people (or I'm just about to ) to start thinking of good questions for debate, even i it hasn't started yet. |

| I would vote against any current member of council being moderator for the next election no matter which party they are affiliated with.
Somerset politics have been so volatile in the past it has been proven an outside source for moderator is the fairest lest protested and most objective choice for all of the people and all of the parties.
Any current member has affiliation with a party or persons who are running again so to avoid even the appearance of bias and prejudice it is imperative to start with a clean slate or we run the risk of an election which is stopped at mid point as the one was 2 elections ago by the King when moderator bias was alleged AFTER debate began.

| Chris_Braveheart, of Cornwall, is willing to moderate our debates. He's willing to start immediately, but Allikath suggests (and I concur) that we all should have a chance to think on it for a little while ... Please post any discussion you may have quickly, as time is slipping away. | |

| I know Chris and Methos from my trading. Both seem to be great fellows, but I admittedly do not know what their political stances are. I would support either of them. I would also support Clasp from Bath (I think). She seems to be fairly objective, and by that I mean she has agreed and disagreed with all parties. I also know that she was a big mover and shaker in the help-Bristol movement. And she is from Somerset!
I would vote for Clasp first, and either of the Cornwallians that I mention above.
Good work Chardy!
Cheers! Rebo | |

| Chris has shown himself to be well read and well written in the HOL and his contributions to Parliament have been non partisan as he comes across as a man who genuinely gives any issue the time of day to weigh it on it's own merits and not by partisan political ties. He always appears rational and calm in any posts in the HOL and HOP. | |

| As I've already spoken to Chris, and he does indeed appear fair and even-handed. More to the point, he's ready to start the debate on my word to him, having already looked over our forums and the rules of the debate. Would anyone object if I were to give him the go-ahead? Speak now!!! | |

| Chris has opened the official debate thread, but picky Marshy has one thing to add.
He says that each party is only allowed 1 spokesman. Was there ever an official thing to change it over from 2 spokespeoples? Should I correct him on that? Or should I pay attention more? |

| traditionally the debate moderators have been allowed to set their own rules for the debate and how it is conducted.
However with virtual world being what it is and one person not always being available in the time period allotted to provide answer I am sure he would not be adverse to allowing a 2nd person if it were pointed out that has been tradition and the reason why.
That way each side is more assured in the event of an emergent situation that an answer can be provided to each question in a timely fashion

| In fact it is the law.
Art. 3.5.5: Each official list can nominate two member of its list to debate. And only the list nominees may participate in the debate. An official list is defined as a list that has paid the cash requirement and all its list members have confirmed.
