I believe, I sounded harsher than I intended and I apologize for going on tangent about the role of government. The only point I wanted to make is besides taxes, what other in game feature allows the various governments to raise funds. Would it be possible for the town to consult with its merchants/tradesman and begin a somewhat aggressive trade policy to make up for any deficit caused by the new policies? As I am new this may already be the town's policy, if so, than perhaps another fund raising policy may need to be implemented. I of course, I am willing to hear any other course that has merit.

Nodding her head to Scotius.

Sir we all very well understand excitement over issues. No problems here. Taxes and limited forms of taxes seem to be the real only IG way of raising funds beyond mines. This said very long ago I do remember a small crew of us who came up with out of game way of income raising. Using IG features. Now over the great amount of time it has mutated for different towns and different people, but the idea is still the same. It was the wood lottery. That has spread across the nation, and become so very popular. This is creative government.

It is ideas like this I search for now. What IG features could a government use either souly or in conjunction with others with a little work from its citizens. Could be implemented to help protect what we do have, or create new funds. I will not kid there are some offices I have never held. As such I have no clue the offices options. Which is why I also ask. Let alone it's been ages since I held any position. Who knows what has changed. Being this is Somerset one of the greatest counties of all of England. Which I know cause I have lived in them all. I would like Somerset to be the leaders of progress here.

Not just old players come up with methods and ideas. New players threw out history have as well. This is why I bring the talks to where the people are a bit. To see if a common player doth have any ideas. I do thank you for your participation. Is a grand thing.
Continues to sit with hands crossed in her lap. Seeing how current councillers seemed to have abandoned an very disappointed in.

There is no way for government to create new money save through the optimization and continued working of its mines. Those are the source of wealth at the county level.

The only other means of getting money to the government, barring taxes, is a very aggressive focus on trading. It doesn't matter what you trade, so long as there is a demand for it SOMEwhere, AND so long as you purchase at prices low enough to cover the cost of transporting those goods. However, the sort of aggressive trading that was possible when we could now and then make a large trade with the French is much harder now. All England is suffering a continuing fodder shortage, reflected in a nation-wide need for meat. Iron and stone are in short supply; where it was possible to buy those in quantities of over 1000 a year ago, now, one must deal for quantities of 3 - 500 in most cases.

I do believe that our council is trading as widely as it might. But that is again complicated by the county need for state points, where those weren't needed at the county level before the Levan rules. Were I, for instance, to leave the county to serve as a trader, then the county would have to replace me as a teacher at the university, as well as replace me in my role as provider of state points. That does limit our trading roster, as other people who might be active in that role are also level 3 state way, and their absence would be as detrimental as mine would be.

An appropriate thread title. We have had much aggression, dealt with many issues. I have seen some of this. Still I have been away on large trades in the north with many of our towns citizens as well. We hear nothing of our beloved county like we once did. How is our Somerset doing? What issues are facing us as citizens? Is Somerset really in such a state of peace that there is nothing for us to think on?
