Arrival of the Ambassador from Franche-Comté

Verania arrived a few days earlier in Somerset and went to the Somerset Inn in order to find her way to the Embassy. She met Lady Patan who kindly explained to her how to get there. That was a short journey and the ambassador found the outside doors open. She dismounted, left her horse to the guard and entered the Castle.
She asked an attendant there to give a letter to the chancellor.


To the people of Somerset,

Greetings from Franche-Comté!

I am the new Ambassador of my Comté to the Kingdom of England and to all English counties.

I would like to talk to the Chancellor and to give him my credentials. I also request to have access to the Franche-Comté's embassy's offices.

Ambassador from Franche-Comté to the English Kingdom

Receiving a message that a new Ambassadress has arrived, Patan makes her way to the doors of the Castle. She meets a servant on the way and requests refreshments for the lady to be sent ahead, and then walks forward.

Sinking into an elegant curtsy, she rises, "Good day, Your Excellency, I am the Baroness Patan, recently appointed as Chancellor of Somerset, and I am delighted that you found your way to Bristol Castle. It is my pleasure to welcome you here to our Embassy. I do hope that your travels have been pleasant and without incident?"

Patan leads the way off to a quiet area of the entrance hall, "Your office is being prepared for your arrival. As soon as you present your documents, authorising your representation of the county of Franche-Comté and signed and sealed by either your duke or your chancellor, I shall be able to give you the keys. Then we can make our way to the Franche-Comté Embassy, where we may relax and discuss matters in private."

Smiling, Patan waits for the lady to produce her credentials.

Verania was pleased to see that the Chancellor came to meet her at the entrance of the Embassy.

Patan examines the Ambassadress's credentials, and looks up with a smile. "Thank you, Your Excellency. Everything seems to be in order, so perhaps you would care to accompany me and I shall escort you to your office?"

Politely, Patan indicates the way and then walks alongside the lady up the elegant staircase and along the wide corridors to the offices allocated to the Ambassadors of Franche-Comté.
