| Subject: Sigilon was charged with slavery - guilty Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:51 pm | |
| Bill of indictment - Quote :
- Today 26/6 Sigilon from Bridgewater hired Bloolwulf for a wage of 12.00.
As a Mayor in Bridgewater,i am accusing him for slavery under the laws of Somerset. He is a Level 2 citizen, with 6 months in this game,so i think we dont have to deal with a mistake. Here is the link of the case :

- Indeed the wage was a mistake. I recently attained level 2 and have largely kept my own company and worked my land with my own hands, ignorant to the laws regarding hiring labor. For proof of such I offer my reputation score of 36. I have no problem with restitution to any wronged parties.
Prosecutor indictment - Quote :
- I know well, that we will talk for mistakes, and in a sort of way i can feel that we deal with this in RK,but why everybody else watching carefully what they post and they dont make mistakes?
I expect the same attention from an older Citizen and mostly from a level 2. We have problems with jobs here, despite from other towns, mines are full every single day, and this kind of hiring i cannot tolerate as Mayor in my town, cause it leaves to people no alternative than to accept it.
Law is law Gentlemen and my fellow citizens, and we will have to obey and to live in a fair and honor society if we want to prosper. I will only add that Sigilon make no trouble in the past, and i am waiting to be more carefull with his offers in the future.
Kind regards Lord Justinan
Mayor of Bridgewater Last defence pleading - Quote :
- I have offered to compensate the offended party for their time. I have previously put much work in to get myself to where I am currently, my money I have painstakingly saved from working in my field and in the mines, my reputation built from tithing and working in the church largely. Much is made of my "experience" but until now, having reached a level where hiring someone else to do my labor seems remotely necessary I haven't bothered with it. As to guilt, I do not waste the court's time with the question of innocence or guilt, I simply submit myself to the court's mercy in the hopes that an honest mistake may be seen as such and in that light justice truly be just. I also thank Catullus for making the attempt to show me the errors of my ways.
The prosecutor called Leocean - Quote :
Yes last night while looking for a job..i saw this offer for 12 pounds and thought wait isnt the minimum 15 but 18 is suggested. I reported this to our mayor shortly after.
The prosecutor called Catullus - Quote :
- I noticed that the defendant had posted the job at 12 shortly after daybreak . I sent him a quick note within 5 minutes of daybreak hoping that I could convince him to relist the job at a legal wage ... unfortunately I was unable to reach Sigilon in order to get the wage corrected. When I saw later in the day that somebody had taken the job at slave wages, I advised our mayor as soon as possible.
Statement of accusation - Quote :
- As this is you first offence I will give you a fine of 3 pounds and you must give a tp to Bloodwulf in the next 2 days if you do not do this I will prosecute you again
