Lawsuit between Rigel and Somerset

Bill of indictment

Quote :
It is alleged Rigel hired Luckylefty for 12,00 £ in the town of Gloucester. Rigel has violated Artical 2.2.3 in the Legal Corpus of Somerset. Which states

Artical. 2.2.3. :Slavery is defined as any attempt to hire someone with an indecent wage. The minimum decent wage is the minimum wage declared by the concerned Town Hall through decrees, otherwise the minimum wage of the Duchy, minimum wage of the duchy is 15 pounds. An exception can be made for helping another citizen, for a religious service act or for a redemption act. The Judge can recognize the a private contract that goes below the minimum wage on the condition that this arrangement was announced to the lieutenant of police of the town in public. Slavery is a light crime, thus the sentence will be a fine at the discretion of the Judge. A repeat offense of slavery will be a moderate crime.

Evidence to the crime can be found here -

http://forum.renaissancekingdoms.com/viewtopic.php?t=23196&start=80

It is written in the Legal Corpus of Somerset in Article. 2.1.5. : Confession of a crime can lower the degree of the sentence.

The Defendant can choose to confess his crime, defend himself, or seek legal assistance if he so wishes.

First defence pleading

Quote :
I plead guilty, but pray for the court's lenience on the basis that my transgression was accidental and was a first offense. I was not even aware that I had hired at only 12 pounds until this lawsuit was served, but a quick skim of the contract records reveals the accusation to be accurate.

Further examination of the record shows that I regularly hire for a reasonable 17 pounds for unskilled labor, or 20 pounds for skilled. For example, see:

The last contracts

22/01 23:03 : Zogzogakita hires Dunnattor for 19,00 pounds
22/01 22:43 : Rigel hires Yiskah for 17,00 pounds
22/01 22:23 : Elsin hires Endjinn for 16,00 pounds
...
0/01 06:03 : Trixobel hires Sinjin for 19,00 pounds
20/01 05:43 : Rigel hires Aanien for 20,00 pounds
20/01 05:23 : Rigel hires Majik for 17,00 pounds
20/01 04:43 : Michaellb hires Kismo for 17,00 pounds

I propose to offer 20 pounds in compensation for my error. I am not aware of how to directly offer 20 pounds to LuckyLefty, although I would do so if the court provided a way. As an alternative, if there is no direct way to make restitution, I could place some of my resources on the market for prices discounted enough to constitute giving away 20 pounds. Or, I could comparably buy something at inflated prices.

Prosecutor indictment

Quote :
Rigel has admitted that he is guilty,

It is written in the Legal Corpus of Somerset in Article. 2.1.5. : Confession of a crime can lower the degree of the sentence

I ask the judge to lower the degree of Rigels sentence.

Rigel has offered to compensate Luckylefty, but Luckylefty has not logged in for the past 3 days.

I suggest to the judge that Rigel pay Luckylefty the 20 pounds when he sees Luckylefty again. And also gives a newcomer a trust point.

Last defence pleading

Quote :
I respectfully agree to the suggestions made by the prosecutor. The following url shows a screenshot of my giving a trust point to a newcomer. I have emailed LuckyLeft to ask that he let me know if he logs in so that I can recompense him 20 pounds, and I will watch to see if he logs in.

The prosecutor called Centitour

Quote :
Your honour,
I do agree with him that i saw his name several times of hiring people more than 15 pounds a day, however, it is also true that he did commit a crime. Since he have plead guilty, i would ask for a lighter sentence on his behalf, i do hope that he will not commit the slavery again.

Statement of accusation
The defendant has been proved guilty of slavery.

Quote :
Rigel, you have confessed your crime, thus I give you a lighter sentence. I sentence you to a fine of 8 pounds for the crime itself. I also order you to pay 20 pounds to Luckylefty when if and when he returns.

The defendant has been sentenced to 8 pounds fine.
