- I just learn that many counties have laws that doesn't allow people with a criminal record to serve on councils or as mayors. This laws aren't respecting the game rules. People are free to vote for whoever they want.
Condamned people have already paid for their misbehavior. Every laws that gives less rights to people with a criminal record have to be removed.
Thank you. We can vote for a decree declaring all laws restricting people with criminal pasts to be unlawful per LJS edict.

| It would be cleaner to simply chnage the applicable sections of current law. Your proposal would really only make the Legal Corpus harder to understand. | |

| No it would not be easier. It would be more simple to make a decree. Again your response is just to oppose me and not thought out for the best interests of the county. | |

| We are here to work. I ahve no interest in wiping out 6 months or more of Somerset History, of hard work by prior councils, councils on which you and Budicca have sat. You cannot convince me those councils managed to do nothing but complicate and mess up the legal corpus of Somerset. You cannot convince me that an outdated corpus from another county is better than everything ever done in Somerset? I will not believe it. | |

| I think the Kings decree already made our laws impossible to enforce. Another Ducal decree saying the same thing won't make any difference. The council does need to consider whether for example the loan programme could now be subverted by criminals, and what we should do about that. I think we do need to rewrite the affected laws if only for the sake of simplicity too.
I regard things such as the requirements for our laws recently expressed by the King as constitutional laws, and would like to see such 'meta-laws' collected together properly in a constitutional document. This would help clarify our laws and ease the process of amending them.

Again your response is just to oppose me and not thought out for the best interests of the county. No, Alli, my response was a considered one. Adding a decree somewhere (and there's not a good way to post that with the laws that I know of) that parts of the laws are void would only add to the confusion, and make the Legal Corpus that much harder to read and understand. I'll post a copy of the corpus in a discussion thread in an hour or two, marking the changes required by LJS in red so we can see what we're cutting from the document.
