Murder! Murder!
=============================================
How to Play it?
You have a Game Master, Murderer, Maybe Accomplices, Clues, Witness and a Thriller of a game.
FYI, its not a "real" murder, just a game
Murderer : Can be anyone, but he/she must not divulge his/her identity.
Accomplices: Can be anyone, but he/she must not divulge his/her identity.
Clues: A careful description of the murder scene will be mentioned in the Opening RP. Participants will have to mail the Game Master on which part of the "Murder Scene" they wish to look into. Each have access to 3 clues request.
Witnesses: Anyone can be a witness, but he/she might not be telling the truth, cause he/she might be the murderer or accomplice.
Thriller of a Game:
Participants will have to travel to different towns to interview the Witnesses. Witnesses can be found in their town forum as well as town hall tavern. The Menu on the town hall tavern, or any participating taverns, shall include bonus "clues" on their menus.
The first person who posts the accusations, backed with clues, witness statement and if they want, how the murder is done, Wins! |

| Yep, I love the idea, too. If you need help with the organising, I'll be happy to get involved. Or I could be one of the people that get interviewed - murderer, accomplice, witness, whatever - in which case, just let me know at the relevant time. Otherwise, I'll just happily participate and try to guess who dunnit! I would have suggested one of the taverns as a murder scene, but we don't want people to get the heebeejeebies and stop going in there - so maybe not! I would think the murder scene would depend on who the victim is and how they're going to get murdered. It could be somebody found drowned in the spa in Bath; or stabbed on the shores of a lake; or battered to death with a rock in a forest; found hanged in an orchard; poisoned in a castle. Probably the spa or castle would be better kinds of locations because there's more chance of witnesses in a more public place. Unless the murder was carried out on the fringes of some sort of event or party. Hmm...so many more murder ideas going through my head here... James, do you already have a basic plot in mind? | |

| Okay...Drafting the entire game with Lady Patan now!
So far we're nailing the rules first...
=================================================== Instructions
1.If you're the murderer, accomplice or witness, you're NEVER to divulge any information unless intended by the Game Master.
2.You need to have at least 3 clues/evidence/witness to make an accusation.
3.Your accusation must be role-played.
4. You can only make one accusation every 24hrs when you have at least 3 clues/evidence/witnesses. Meaning, if you posted at 4.53pm, you can only post after 4.52pm the next day.
Plot will be discussed soon. For the secrecy of this game, only the Starting RP description of the murder scene will be shared here! | |

| Helpers hmmm should not be to hard to find them. I'm about to go to the uni but later today I will mail the mayor's and ask them if they are willing to have clues placed on their menu's.
Once that is done (It may take a few days) and I have replies I will post the game rules into Somerset Hall (as a coming soon) calling for witnesses and people who wish to join in. Are you happy with the rules? How many witnesses? Who's the poor dead person? Or do they have to guess that too?
Committee members post here if you can help in any way. |

Lord of Darkness is even thinking about trying a few lines of rp Demecat sent a warning *shrugs* not sure what that is about but she is willing to help so that is the main thing. PG is always happy to help I have mailed them back a thank you and that I will let them know more since I am just waiting for the outcome of a poll. At lest we know the current mayors are willing to help, if/when we bring murder to the forums. |

| Well, a first thought for a poster design: I have a couple of designs, so if it isn't suitable - or liked - I can change it...or we can use somebody else's...or none at all..! Edited again to make a few slight changes to the poster!

| Thank you Revan! OK, well, James and I have put together the description of the scene of the crime: - Quote :
- Scene of crime
Called to Tobias Carter’s Trinket Shop after a report of a murder, you first take a look around outside. You note that the nearest neighbour must live in the house opposite. Then you pause to look in the shop window, noticing the various small items of jewellery and household ornaments on display. Finally, you open the door and enter, unsure what you shall find within.
You walk inside and look around. The shop is a mess, with some of the items lying around on the floor. You can see the evidence of a struggle at the counter and, nearby, an overturned table.
Two constables are standing in the shop and, as they move aside to let you pass, you see a man lying sprawled on the floor, his arms outspread helplessly ... dead!
On talking to the constables, you hear their report. The murdered man is the proprietor, Tobias Carter. It seems the shopkeeper may have been taking an inventory of his stock, as he still holds the list of the goods in his hand. The constables have checked this list against the goods remaining in the shop and assure you that nothing is missing.
The constables report that they have checked around and Mr Carter seems to have been married, and a quiet business man that kept to himself most of the time. He may have had a dream of getting rich, like all common men, but it seems he had no known bad habits.
However, you know you will need to gather more information and to interview anyone you think might know something that could lead you to identifying the murderer.
Obviously, you will have to interview Mr Carter’s wife, Olivia. Although a grieving widow, she may have information that could help with your case.
Also, you think that perhaps the neighbour in the house opposite, Mrs Barclay, might perhaps have noticed something at the time of the murder. You should probably ask her about it.
Asking the constables a few more pertinent questions, you ascertain the names of a few other people that it might be worth interviewing. The constables have checked Mr Carter’s books and have identified a couple of regular customers, and you resolve to talk to them in case they might know something useful. They are Jonathan Downie and Philip Hoskins.
It seems that Mr Carter had a particular best friend, Alan Campbell, who might also have some useful insights into the case.
And the constables tell you of a rival jewellery and trinket shop – you certainly should talk to Jason Hopkins.
Now...you must use your skills of detection to unmask the murderer of Tobias Carter.

Or did you just put the list up so I could think about asking people to join in the Somerset hall? Wow Patan that is fantastic poster. Awsome. |

How to Play it?
You have a Game Master, Murderer, Maybe Accomplices, Clues, Witnesses, detectives and a Thriller of a game.
FYI, it’s not a "real" murder, just a game
Clues: A careful description of the murder scene will be mentioned in the Opening RP. Participants will have to mail the Game Master on which part of the "Murder Scene" they wish to look into. Each has access to 3 clues request.
Witnesses: Anyone can be a witness, but he/she might not be telling the truth, because he/she might be the murderer or accomplice.
If you're the murderer, accomplice or witness, you're NEVER to divulge any information unless intended by the Game Master.
You need to have at least 3 clues/evidence/witness to make an accusation.
Your accusation must be role-played.
You can only make one accusation every 24hrs when you have at least 3 clues/evidence/witnesses. Meaning, if you posted at 4.53pm, you can only post after 4.52pm the next day.
The game requires people to fill the below roles, they must be willing to role play and to live via the rules. All genders of roles (except wife) are changeable.
Witness roles
Olivia Carter - F Mrs Barclay - F Jonathan Downie - M Phillip Hoskins - M Alan Campbell - M Jason Hopkins – M
The game also requires as many detectives as possible as after all we do not wish to leave this murderer running around the forum, who knows who else may die. Travel may be required to interview the witnesses or find the clues in the town menus. Please note that in the interest of safety please do not travel alone, escorts can be found by mailing the SAS or placing a request here and I will ensure you receive an escort.

| The advertisement shouldn't tell them the mechanics of the game. What we think we need is for this marketing thread to draw people in. Then, once we have the sign-ups and start the game, we will post the description of the crime scene, followed by the instructions. So, I've re-done this advert a bit, to take out the stuff they don't need to know at this stage. - Quote :

There is going to be a murder! (No, not a “real” murder, this is a role-playing game!)
Join in the game – use your skills of detection to work out who the murderer is and how he or she committed the crime.
You will be given a description of the murder scene and can request clues to help you in your investigation.
You will also need to interview witnesses. These witnesses may be found in their town forum or a local tavern, so you may need to travel around Somerset to be successful in your task. Some taverns may also hold additional clues to help you.
Once you have 3 pieces of evidence, you may make an accusation (in role-play) – the first person to work out who the murderer is and how they did it, wins!
--------------
Before we start, we need people to fill some of the roles in the game. They must be willing to role play and to live by the rules of the game.
If you run a tavern and wish to participate by holding a clue, or are a Mayor and are willing to put a clue in your Town Hall message, please also let us know.
Most importantly, the game also, of course, requires as many detectives as possible - after all, we do not wish to leave this murderer running around the forum, or who knows who else may die!
Please note that in the interest of safety you should not travel alone, escorts can be found by mailing the SAS or placing a request here and I will ensure you receive an escort.
